About Therapist

Courtney D. Dowdy, MA, LPC

Founder | Licensed Professional Counselor

I’m Courtney Dowdy, a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas with over eight years of experience supporting individuals and families through life’s challenges. I’m the proud founder of Butterfly Effect Therapy, a space rooted in compassion, growth, and transformation.

I began my academic journey at Jackson State University, earning my bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. I went on to earn my master’s degree from Prairie View A&M University.

My clinical focus is on children and adolescents, helping them build emotional regulation, coping skills, and confidence in a supportive, therapeutic environment. I specialize in treating anxiety, self-esteem issues, emotional and behavioral challenges, social skills development, and family dynamics.

My approach is client-centered and developmentally appropriate—tailored to meet each individual exactly where they are in their journey.

At Butterfly Effect Therapy, I’m committed to helping clients uncover their inner strength and create meaningful, lasting change.
